(Proposed by the American Patriots Committee 30th day of May in the Year of Our Lord 2008)

Memorializing candidates who run to be public servants serving the will of, We the People, to know and understand “this Constitution of the United States of America” as described in its Preamble, and our founding documents and uphold the principles within.

WHEREAS, the proper role of government of our Constitutional Republic has generated and continues to generate considerable discussion; and

WHEREAS, most recently unelected taxing authorities were being set up in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, in a unanimous decision such unelected taxing authorities were found to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, all elected public officials are required to take a sworn oath of office to uphold “the Constitution for the United States of America”; and

WHEREAS, having taken such oath it is a sworn duty of all elected officials holding public office to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, there is a clear and present danger that there are elected officials that do not understand, or worse, knowingly disregard, the proper role of our government; and

WHEREAS, to properly uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, elected officials must know and understand what is meant by the terms and words written in the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence and other founding documents; and

WHEREAS, “We the People” are the source of authority for government at all levels, so we must join together as American Patriots to hold elected servants accountable for their actions or neglect or failure to act to protect and preserve our God given rights;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the ______________ Party endorses this Resolution and will no longer support candidates for election or re-election as public servants unless and until they have taken an approved course on the Constitution for the United States of America and/or can prove their competence and understanding of our Constitutional Republic and the proper role of such government based on original intent with the meanings of the terms and words as defined at the time of its writing through testing.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the ________________ Party of Virginia transmit copies of this Resolution to the local, state and federal elected servants of Virginia and any others that is learned may be seeking such offices that request such.
